Yia-Loren Gomez is a multidimensional creative from Trinidad and Tobago with a history of working in the arts industry.
Holding a Master of Arts (MA) in Art and Design from Loughborough University, School of the Arts in the UK, she is the Founder & Creative Director of YIA Designs.
The company provides products and services including graphic and product design, with a sole focus on copper lighting sculptures, as well as creative projects.
WORK
Her work explores light and movement.
As a dancer, her inspiration also stems from this creation of movement. Gomez blends art and design practice that form these lighting sculptures from simple lines depicted in movement.
Her process is grounded in the conceptual and organic forms found in these lines to then create unique and visually stimulating pieces.
While light is used as a functional object to illuminate a space, she finds beauty in applying an artistic approach to a final product, that can impact an environment completely.
Her portfolio spans a number of lighting designs for both indoor and outdoor spaces, including a copper lighting sculpture installed at the Brix Hotel, Trinidad and at Hotel Ossa, Poland.
